British lawmakers approved changes in the EU Withdrawal Bill, according to which Britain’s withdrawal from the EU must first be approved by the parliament, The Times reported.

Members of the House of Commons won the right to final vote on Brexit . The amendment was supported by 309 voters, with 305 opposing it.

According to experts, this decision will weaken British Prime Minister Therese May’s position before the next phase of talks on Brexit that will begin in Brussels on Friday.

In opposing the premiere, the Conservative MPs also supported the amendment.

The European Union summit will take place in Brussels on December 15, during which both the UK government and EU leaders should discuss the second phase of talk on Brexit.
