EU leaders failed to reach agreement on the migration policy during Brussels summit, said German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the Financial Times reported.

According to Angela Merkel, EU has made certain progress in protecting the external EU borders, particularly due to agreements with Turkey and cooperation with Libya. German Chancellor also noted that EU members must show solidarity with each other. Merkel said she is not satisfied with the fact that the existing options for the solution of migration crisis has not worked out.

The EU member states have not been able to agree on a number of issues relating to refugee problems for several years. The European Commission and some countries, including Germany, supported redeployment options, which aim at receiving refugees. However, Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic reject any form of coercion in this regard.
