The judge of the Zamoskvoretsky court of Moscow, Larisa Semenova, sentenced the ex-minister of economic development Alexey Ulyukayev to eight years in a strict-regime colony, Meduza reports.

Ulyukayev was found guilty of taking a bribe of $ 2 million, which he demanded from the head of Rosneft Igor Sechin.

The prosecution requested Ulyukayev 10 years in a strict-regime colony with a fine of 500 million rubles.

The court confirmed the position of the investigation that in 2016, Ulyukayev demanded a bribe from Sechin for the approval of the transaction of the purchase of Bashneft. The former minister was detained in the office of Rosneft when receiving the bribery.

Ulyukayev himself denies his guilt. He stated that no one except Sechin had heard the words about the alleged bribe claim. Ulyukaev also insists that he did not know about the contents of the bag of money that he received from Sechin. The ex - minister intends to seek an investigation into the provocation of a bribe.
