The former U.S. ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul slammed Donald Trump for his phone conversation with Russian president Vladimir Putin that was held at the initiative of the American side,

He  said on MSNBC that the call was “not in the national interest.”

“It’s shocking to me that that phone call gets to go through,” McFaul said.

The statement released by the White House, said President Trump thanked President Putin for acknowledging America’s strong economic performance in his annual press conference.

McFaul claims “Putin knows that saying nice things about Trump elicits these kinds of responses”.
