It is up to NATO member states to make decisions on selling weapons to various countries, Deputy Secretary General of NATO Rose Gottemoeller said in Yerevan on Monday.

Asked what is NATO’s position on the recent U.S. decision on weapon supplies to Georgia, Gottemoeller said from NATO perspective it is a bilateral matter between Washington and Tbilisi.

“It is not up to NATO, but we do provide training and try to advise and assist countries to be able to be more effective, we have excellent relations with Georgia,” she added.

In November U.S. State Department approved the $75 million sale of 72 Javelin anti-tank guided missile launch units along with 410 Javelin Missiles.
