Copper wires worth 4,324 laris (about US$1,700) were stolen from the Georgian section of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, reported the Jnews.ge website of Georgia.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of the country arrested three people on charges of stealing the copper contact wires of this railway.

According to the investigation, I. B., 27, Z. T., 25, and G. G., 27, stole these wires from the Ninotsminda town station of the Marabda-Kartsakhi railway.

The MIA officers detained the accused near Tsalka town, and they found the stolen wires inside their car.

A criminal case has opened. 

The defendants face four to seven years in prison.
