Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas arrived in Saudi Arabia to discuss Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel with Saudi Arabia’s King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, AP reported.

The visit took place a week after the emergency summit of the OIC, which condemned the US decision and called for recognition of Palestine. 

Saudi Arabia did not take part in the summit, but the media reported that Riyadh is putting pressure on Abbas to renounce Palestinian claims regarding East Jerusalem in exchange for continuing US pressure on Iran. The resolution condemning the US president's decision on Jerusalem will be put to the vote at a meeting of the UN General Assembly, which was convened after the US vetoed such a resolution in the UN Security Council.
