The demonstrations taking place in Iran are provoked by the countries that have specific problems with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Ara Shahnazarian, director of Alik (Wave) Armenian daily newspaper of Iran, on Monday told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

He added, however, that the situation and the protests have calmed down in Iran.

In his words, these rallies are led by the US, Western countries, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and some Gulf countries.

“The [Iranian] authorities say, ‘we will follow the people’s protests. But if it turns into anarchy, we will not allow,’” Shahnazarian noted, in particular.

And reflecting on the reports about the arrest of former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, he said as follows, above all. “We, too, know as much as it has been disseminated.”

Al Quds Al Arabi daily newspaper had reported, citing its sources in Tehran, that Ahmadinejad was arrested for supporting the protest demonstrations in Iran.
