YEREVAN. – President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan received the newly appointed Ambassador of Lebanon Maya Dagher.

During the meeting, the ambassador handed over her credentials to the president.

President Sargsyan expressed confidence that newly appointed ambassador would make every effort to develop and strengthen relations between the two countries. President Sargsyan gladly stated that the relations between Armenia and Lebanon, based on the centuries-old friendship of the two peoples, are deepening and strengthening year by year.

According to the him, over the past 25 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two countries have managed to build such relations that are characterized by a high level of political dialogue, confidence, close cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

President Sargsyan thanked the authorities and people of friendly Lebanon for the warm attitude to the Armenian community, which provided an opportunity not only to preserve identity, but also to develop and actively participate in the social and economic life of the country.

The Ambassador agreed that although the interstate relations of the two countries are only 25 years old, they are strong and based on their friendship of two peoples. The diplomat also noted the active participation of the Armenian community in the development of Lebanon.

The interlocutors noted with satisfaction that Armenia and Lebanon effectively cooperate also within the framework of international organizations. The sides noted the importance of Lebanon’s growing interest in the Armenian economy, stressing the need to intensify contacts and promote investments.

They also touched upon international issues and challenges.
