South Koreans, who invested in crypto-currencies, forced the government to review the plan to ban cryptocurrency trading, FT reported.

Justice Minister Park Sang-ki’s Thursday statement that the government is preparing a bill to ban the trade of crypto-currencies on domestic exchanges caused a panic among investors.

“Justice minister Park Sang-ki’s remarks regarding the shutdown of cryptocurrency exchanges is one of the measures that have been prepared by the justice ministry, but it is not a final decision,” explained Yoon Young-chan, chief press secretary.

At least 50 thousand people signed a petition against the ban on cryptocurrency trading a few hours after Park Sang-ki’s statement. Citizens threatened to obstruct the ruling Democratic Party Toburo in local elections.
