2010 was difficult for Armenia, as the country faced serious problems. However, Armenia achieved some results in overcoming these problems, particularly in eliminating the consequences of the global financial crisis, Head of Republican parliamentary group (RPA) Galust Sahakyan told NEWS.am.

According to the MP, more significant achievements were registered in the country’s foreign policy course, as Armenia’s stance on many issues, particularly on the Karabakh conflict and other international issues, found response from the world community. “The international documents have identified the nation’s right to self-determination as a priority,” he said.

However, the parliamentarian stressed there are many unresolved issues, particularly in the social sphere. “The unemployment rate is still high. We will face the problems in 2011 as well. However, there are all prerequisites to overcome these problems in case there is no force majeure,” Sahakyan said, stressing “the world is overwhelmed by natural disasters, which may also affect Armenia.”

Speaking of the further development of political events, Sahakyan stressed the pre-election campaign has already been launched in Armenia. “We may expect a political re-alignment.  The political processes in the country will intensify in late 2011,” the MP concluded.
