YEREVAN. – Nigeria’s new Ambassador to Armenia, Hamzat Ibrahim—with residence in the Iranian capital city of Tehran—, on Thursday presented his credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan.

Congratulating the ambassador on his appointment, the President expressed the hope that Armenia and Nigeria will develop bilateral relations during the diplomat’s tenure, press office of the President informed Armenian News-NEWS.am. In addition, Sargsyan underscored the need to create a respective legal and contractual basis, as well as to hold consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries. 

Ambassador Ibrahim, for his part, noted that Nigeria is interested in deepening relations with Armenia, especially in economy. He stressed that there is an interest in developing cooperation, particularly in the mining industry where, as per the Nigerian diplomat, Armenia has a considerable track-record. Also, the newly appointed ambassador assured that he will spare no effort to fulfill his mission to the utmost, and to contribute to the strengthening of Armenian-Nigerian relations.
