Passport control at U.S. airports has become tougher. Security officials were authorized to confiscate any gadgets from passengers who refused to provide a password from the device, Lenta reports citing The Sun.

Previously, border guards already had the right to quickly inspect the laptops and smartphones and send passengers for further verification if needed.

According to the new rule, travelers are required to give electronic devices and the information contained in them in a state that allows checking the device and its contents.

In the event that foreigners refuse to provide full access to all information on their gadget, they may be denied an access to the U.S. territory or the device can be confiscated.
