YEREVAN. – The [ruling] Republican Party of Armenia has nominated a very interesting candidate for the President of the country.

Aghvan Vardanyan, Secretary of the “Armenian Revolutionary Federation [ARF]” Faction at the National Assembly, on Monday stated the aforesaid at a briefing with reporters at parliament. He noted this with respect to Armenia’s ambassador to UK, Armen Sarkissian, who is nominated as the RPA presidential candidate.

Vardanyan informed that the ARF, the coalition partner of the RPA, had an informal meeting with Sarkissian, whereas a formal meeting will take place soon.

In his words, positive changes are observed within Armenia’s state political elite, as the new candidates that are nominated for positions differ from their predecessors in qualitative terms and by their positive attributes.

Aghvan Vardanyan stressed that he does not see any reason why Armen Sarkissian’s candidacy will not be acceptable.
