The United Nations (UN) is preparing a large-scale humanitarian operation to help the residents in Afrin, Syria, who are in the zone of military operations by the Turkish army.

Stéphane Dujarric, Spokesman for the UN Secretary-General, informed about the aforesaid to reporters, according to RIA Novosti news agency of Russia. 

He added that they follow the situation very carefully and are very concerned by the information being received regarding conflicts in Afrin.

As per Dujarric, there are close to 324 thousand people, including 126 thousand refugees from other areas, in the region.
