YEREVAN. – The trainings of 82nd and 101st US airborne divisions for tunnel warfare are directed against the North Korea, director for the Center of Military Forecasting at the Institute of Political and Military Analysis Anatoly Tsyganok told Armenian News- NEWS.am.

According to him, American military experts concluded that the troops needed appropriate training not only above the ground, but also in underground tunnels.

“I presume they are training these divisions to fight on the Korean peninsula. But, I think that the US president will not start military operations during Olympic Games, but after the games, I suppose that the Americans,  together with the Japanese, can provoke North Korea," Tsyganok explained.

The military doctrine, signed by US President Donald Trump, is directed against North Korea, Iran, Russia and China, said the expert, adding that Pyongyang has an opportunity to deal a serious blow to the South Korean capital which is located only 35-40 kilometers from the border.

“US understands what losses South Korea and Japan will have,” said the expert, adding that North Korea not only has nuclear weapons, but also four nuclear power plants.

As reported earlier, the 82nd and 101st US airborne divisions are trained for tunnel warfare. North Korea regarded this exercises as preparation for war.
