The 48th World Economic Forum kicked off in the Swiss Alpine resort of Davos on Tuesday, the official website of this global event reported.

Leaders of states and representatives of various international organizations will visit and deliver reports, lectures and statements in the WEF.

This year’s forum will be attended by a record high number of political leaders. More than 70 heads of state and governments will arrive, including presidents of the United States, France, Brazil, Argentina, Tunisia, Poland and Ukraine. The forum will be opened by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will deliver a program speech.

One of the main topics of the WEF will be the threat of the use of weapons of mass destruction and the problem of global warming.
Trump is due to speak Friday, though the U.S. government shutdown has put his presence in doubt.

The forum will end on January 26.
