Another Great Wall will be built In the Xinjiang Uyghurs Autonomous Region, China Daily reported referring to the region's chairman Shokrat Zakir.

The official explained the idea is aimed at strengthening security on the state border “to protect it against the penetration of extremism, separatism and terrorism from abroad.”

At the annual session of the 13th Regional People's Congress in Urumqi the chairman of the regional council said that they will try to do everything to ensure that there are no gaps or invisible points in ensuring social protection and security of key areas.

Zakir explained that the Xinjiang authorities will increase their control over the web for security purposes and improve the infrastructure in the border areas.
