During the urgent debates at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) winter session in Strasbourg, France, and regarding Turkey’s military invasion of Syria, Edmon Marukyan, member of the National Assembly of Armenia delegation to the PACE, has called on international community to take measures toward preventing yet another humanitarian catastrophe caused by Turkey’s current military operation in Syria, and to protect the civilian population in the country.

Marukyan spoke on behalf of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe Political Group, and thoroughly presented Turkey’s military operations among Syria’s civilian population, facts attesting to their being shelled, and he called on Turkey to stop its military operations, refrain from clashes and attacks, and withdraw its troops from Syria.

The Armenian MP stated, on behalf of the aforesaid PACE political group, that they are joining the call by France and the US, whereby it was proposed to convene an emergency session of the UN Security Council.
