YEREVAN. – It was Turkey, not Armenia that rejected ratification of the Zurich protocols, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said when summing up the 2017 activities of the ministry.
He once again said “the ball is in Turkey’s court” and it is not Armenia that has to worry about international reputation.
As to the date of annulling the protocols, the minister said the decision would be made public in the term announced by the president.
Speaking at the UN General Assembly session in September 2017 Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said that the Turkish government is putting forward ridiculous preconditions for the ratification of the Zurich protocols. According to the president, as there is no positive progress on Turkey’s ratification of these agreements, Armenia will annul agreements and enter the spring 2018 without the documents.
