Parallel to the rapid development of hydropower, several unprecedented reservoirs are being built in the Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic/NKR), with foreign investments.

The NKR Prime Minister’s press secretary, Artak Beglaryan, wrote about the aforesaid on his Facebook page.

In particular, he noted that the construction of the 12-million-cubic-meter capacity reservoir in Kashatagh Region will be completed within the year. The proprietor of this hydroelectric power plant reservoir is a foreign investor who has spent several tens of millions of US dollars on this project.

Beglaryan added that Artsakh Minister of State Arayik Haroutyunyan recently announced that four projects will be implemented in the coming years in the Sarsang-Mataghis area, within the framework of which reservoirs will be built. The cost of these projects will be over $100 million, the majority of which will be provided by foreign companies.

Also, the NKR PM’s press secretary informed that six small hydroelectric power plants are planned to be put into operation in the current year.
