Presidential candidate from the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Armen Sarkissian held separate meetings with the representatives of RPA and ARF Dashnaktsutyun party on Monday evening.

Talking to reporters, Armen Sarkissian said he will decide on taking the office after his meetings with the representatives of all political groups.

Following the meeting, ARF Dashnaktsutyun party said they are ready to support Armen Sarkissian's candidacy.

On Tuesday, the candidate held a meeting at the Armenian National Academy of Sciences. 

The Armenian Nuclear Power Plant should be shut down as soon as possible, EU diplomat told reporters at the fifth EU-Armenia subcommittee meeting which has kicked off Tuesday in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan.

Armenian Investigative Committee established the identity of a woman who had left a newborn in Armenia’s Proshyan village.

The child was found under a tree in the morning on August 12, 2017

Police identified the mother of the child. According to preliminary data, the woman gave birth at home, and then decided to get rid of the baby, leaving her in the garden.

Two Russian-Armenian businessmen are included in the list of 210 Russian officials and billionaires having close links to Russian president Vladimir Putin.

Armenian MP Nikol Pashinyan wrote on Facebook that the Italian police besieged his hotel room in Rome to arrest him because of being on Interpol’s wanted list. 

Later in the day Armenian police clarified that after Pashinyan’s arrest in 2009, the local office informed “the Interpol General Secretariat about the suspension of international search for him, and later all Member States have been informed by the General Secretariat.”

In July 2009 Nikol Pashinyan handed himself in to police and was later sentenced to seven years in prison. He was released by an amnesty in 2011.

Neither Armenian nationals, nor ethnic Armenians were injured after ceiling collapsed at a Tbilisi metro station on Tuesday, spokesperson for Armenian Foreign Ministry Tigran Balayan said.

At least 14 people were injured after ceiling collapsed in Tbilisi’s Varketili subway station.
