South Korea has banned 36,000 foreigners from entering the country for security reasons ahead of Winter Olympic Games, the representatives of the National Intelligence Service (NIS) told the lawmakers at the briefing.

In cooperation with foreign intelligence services, National Intelligence Service has banned 36,000 foreigners from entering South Korea who could pose a potential threat, Yonhap reported.

As of February 3, the Organizing Committee of the 2018 Olympic Games in South Korean PyeongChang sold about 75% of tickets.

The XXIII Olympic Winter Games will be held for 17 days from 9 to 25 February 2018 in PyeongChang. The Winter Paralympics will be staged from March 9 to 18.
