Azerbaijan is quite worrisome regarding the Iskander missile system which Armenia has obtained from Russia.

In an attempt to neutralize the potential threat, Azerbaijan continues to buy arms, but in the process, it presents the desirable as something real.

Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper of Israel reported that the country’s Defense Minister, Avigdor Lieberman, has instructed his ministry to develop surface-to-surface missiles with up to a 300km range, according to Haaretz daily of Israel.

The Azerbaijani media have reacted to this development recalling that in terms of acquiring 500km-range missiles within the framework of Baku’s interests, and in response to the Armenian Armed Forces’ being armed with the Iskander missile system, the Azerbaijan Ministry of Defense may show an interest in purchasing from Israel a new missile system with a greater range.

But some media outlets have rushed into stating that “Israel is upgrading the missiles sold to Azerbaijan,” albeit this is about the model, and not the arms that were not sold.
