Saudi Arabia has allowed Air India to fly to Israel over its airspace, Haaretz reported.

According to the source, the Saudi authorities allowed Air India to operate direct flights from New Delhi to Tel Aviv over kingdoms airspace.

The approval means that the duration of flights from India to Israel will be shortened by 2.5 hours.

The resolution is the first open confirmation of warming of Saudi Arabian-Israeli relations as the Kingdom’s airspace have been closed for 70 years not only for all Israelis, but for any other aircraft bound for the Jewish state.

At present time, Saudi Arabia and Israel do not have diplomatic ties.
