YEREVAN. – At Thursday’s Cabinet meeting, the government of Armenia approved the package on making changes in several laws that regulate the international relations of the country.

Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan introduced the respective bill.

He noted that the key change is that the President of Armenia shall from now on approve, suspend, or terminate the validity of international agreements solely based on government proposal.

Kocharyan added that, along with this, the parliament of Armenia shall ratify, suspend, and terminate international agreements with the adoption of a relevant law.

As per the deputy FM, the other fundamental changes are regarding the increasing of the role and accountability of well-informed governmental departments, when negotiating.

Shavarsh Kocharyan noted that changes will be made in several other relevant laws.
