Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his Turkish counterpart Recep Erdogan have conducted telephone discussion over bilateral and regional issues, Tasnim reported.

According to Rouhani, Iran believes that relations with Turkey must reach a strategic level in all fields.

“Numerous threats in the region are endangering the interests of both Iran and Turkey and other Muslim countries,” the Iranian president said, adding that, given the very close viewpoints of the two countries on regional and international issues, it is necessary to continue political cooperation and consultations.

Iranian President highlighted the need to intensify regional cooperation between Iran, Turkey and Russia and welcomed an upcoming meeting in Istanbul between the three countries’ presidents on the Syrian crisis.
