Within the framework of its working visit Moscow, the delegation from the Republic of Armenia National Assembly (RA NA), and led by NA Chairman Ara Babloyan, on Wednesday met with chairman Vyacheslav Volodin of the Russian State Duma.

The NA Speaker underlined that this visit would be one more impetus in the development of parliamentary relations. The Head of the RA Parliament expressed his gratitude for the organization of the exhibition, entitled “Together,” which is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Russian, and the 300th anniversary of the Armenian Diocese of New Nakhichevan and Russia of the Armenian Apostolic Church, noting that this is an opportunity for further deepening of bilateral relations.

In the expansion of bilateral relations, the RA NA Speaker highly assessed the cooperation existing between the parliaments. Also, the Head of the RA legislative body welcomed the activities by Vyacheslav Volodin, as Collective Security Treaty Organization Parliamentary Assembly (CSTO PA) Chairman, aimed at increasing the role of this organization.

Touching upon the proposal of Russia to hold the conference of the speakers of the parliaments of the Eurasian countries, the RA NA chairman noted that this platform already had proved its vitality, creating an opportunity for dialogue without obstacles. Also, he reaffirmed the willingness of Armenia to host this conference in 2020.

Speaking about cooperation within international parliamentary platforms, Ara Babloyan highlighted the need for more coordinated cooperation based on the mutual cooperation. At the same time, the Head of the RA legislative body underscored the strengthening of mutually beneficial cooperation between the parliaments of the European and Asian countries.

Ara Babloyan added that the Armenian parliamentarians will actively take part in the observation missions of the CSTO PA and the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States, in the upcoming presidential election in Russia.

Noting that the traditional partnership relations serve as a firm basis for further cooperation, Russian State Duma speaker Vyacheslav Volodin stressed that the constructive dialogue between the two countries is at a high level, their parliamentary organizations cooperate, and the cultural and educational ties are expanding.
