Florida gunman who shot dead 17 people in Parkland Nikolas Cruz will offer a guilty plea to avoid death penalty.

Defense attorneys for Cruz plan to meet with prosecutors and offer a guilty plea in exchange for life in prison, Sun Sentine reported quoting Broward Public Defender Howard Finkelstein.

Cruz was charged with 17 counts of murder. The prosecutors have not yet formally charged Cruz, but defense lawyers said they were certain that they would seek the death penalty.

Nikolas Cruz was earlier expelled from the school for disciplinary reasons. He was armed with AR 15 gun that is used by police and is sold in gun stores.
