The opposition “Tsarukyan” Faction has not yet discussed the candidacy of Armen Sarkissian, who is nominated by the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) as the fourth president of the country. 

National Assembly (NA) “Tsarukyan” Faction MP Naira Zohrabyan informed about the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“We have met with Armen Sarkissian, we have listened to his vision, approaches; he also responded to the questions of our MPs,” said, Zohrabyan. “After that, Armen Sarkissian met also with our party leader, Gagik Tsarukyan.

“Armen Sargsyan’s election is on March 2; I believe there is still a long time [left to discuss his candidacy]. We [the ‘Tsarukyan’ NA Faction], led by Mr. Tsarukyan, will assemble and present our [respective] decision to the media.

As reported earlier, Ambassador to UK Armen Sarkissian has accepted President and RPA Chairman Serzh Sargsyan’s proposal to be nominated as the RPA candidate for the fourth President of Armenia.

Three of the four NA factions have publicized their positions with respect to Sarkissian’s candidacy, and solely the opposition “Way Out” Faction will vote against his candidacy.

The NA will elect the fourth President of Armenia on March 2.
