YEREVAN. – Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is attempting to assemble a very radical nationalist climate around him, thereby to try to push forward his policy in the region, especially in terms of Armenia and Karabakh.

Giro Manoyan, head of the Political Affairs Bureau and the Armenian Cause Office of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun Party, stated the aforementioned at a press conference on Friday.

At the same time, in his words, Ankara is not interested in the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) conflict, since a presidential election is slated in Turkey in the coming year.

“And large-scale military actions in Karabakh can lead to serious consequences for both sides,” Manoyan noted. “Baku does everything to avoid it.”

In his view, Baku likewise is not interested in the settlement of the Karabakh conflict, again in connection with the presidential election to be conducted in Azerbaijan on April 11.

But Giro Manoyan did not rule out the possibility of the exacerbation of the situation at the border, during this election.
