YEREVAN. – Armenian-Georgian relations continue to develop in a climate of mutual trust.
Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan on Friday noted the aforementioned during his joint news conference with Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili, who is visiting Armenia.
In Karapetyan’s words, today’s bilateral talks were held in a warm and constructive atmosphere.
“We discussed matters of regional cooperation in the energy sector, with other possible directions, including within the framework of the Meghri Free Economic Zone [of Armenia],” he said, in particular.
The Armenian PM added that the parties have reached an agreement on the promotion of cooperation in energy, transport, tourism, and health care.
Karapetyan noted that the parties also reflected on collaboration in education as well as in the preservation and restoration of historical and cultural monuments
“The [two] countries have great potential in terms of the deepening of economic cooperation,” the Armenian Premier stressed, in particular.
Georgian PM Kvirikashvili, for his part, said the centuries-old friendly relations are a foundation for further development of interstate cooperation between Armenia and Georgia.
Also, he recalled the high-level visits that were conducted last year.
“There is potential for the development cooperation,” the Georgian Premier added, in particular.
In Kvirikashvili’s words, Georgia welcomes the recent signing of the Armenia-European Union Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement as well as Armenia’s reforms in public administration, especially its passing to a parliamentary system of government.
