YEREVAN. – Armenian-Georgian traditional friendship and political relations are at a high level of solid foundation for further development.

The aforementioned was noted at Friday’s talk between Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan of Armenia, and his visiting Georgian colleague Giorgi Kvirikashvili, in capital city Yerevan.

First, Karapetyan and Kvirikashvili had a tête-à-tête, during which they expressed satisfaction with the level of friendly cooperation between Armenia and Georgia and underscored the development of trade and economic relations between the two countries, press office of the government of Armenia informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The private conversation between the PMs was followed by an extended meeting between the governmental delegations from both countries.

Reflecting on the prospects for the development of bilateral economic cooperation, PM Karapetyan noted that Armenia’s economy is on a good development trend, and stressed that they need to work actively to develop bilateral cooperation.

PM Kvirikashvili, in turn, congratulated Karapetyan for Armenia’s economic growth and added that the avenues for increasing trade should be considered in the context of promotion of cooperation. Also, the Georgian PM welcomed the recent signing of the Armenia-European Union Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement and expressed willingness to assist in its implementation.

Also, the premiers of the two countries discussed cooperation in several domains, and highlighted the need to intensify the activities of the Armenian-Georgian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation.

In addition, PM Karen Karapetyan thanked the Georgian authorities for their care toward Armenian cultural heritage in Georgia. Giorgi Kvirikashvili, for his part, noted that Georgia is proud of its friendship and cooperation with its Armenian compatriots.

Furthermore, PMs Karapetyan and Kvirikashvili agreed to implement projects toward strengthening of humanitarian ties.
