Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmed Davutoglu called “an internal affair of Turkey” dismantling of the monument of Armenian-Turkish friendship in Kars.

Statements by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan that the monument should be removed, have solely aesthetic motives, they have no political agenda,  said Davutoglu at a press conference on January 14, Turkish Doğan reports.

As NEWS.am reported earlier, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan told the reporters on January 14 that Armenian Foreign Ministry regrets that Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan made a statement on demolition of “Monument of Humanity” in Kars, as such kind of statement will only damage the establishment of Armenia-Turkey relations.

“This statement is a new obstacle to Armenia-Turkey rapprochement,” the minister stressed.

Nalbandyan emphasized the Armenian side does not intend to change its stance on Armenia-Turkey reconciliation process as there is no need for it.

“Turkey should change its policy and establish relations with Armenia without any preconditions. The international community is waiting for such a step from Turkey ,” Nalbandyan noted.
