Ukraine’s participation in Eurovision 2011 Song Contest is jeopardized due to debts of Ukrainian national broadcaster. National TV Company of Ukraine is reported not to pay its debts for previous years, Internnovosti reported.

The scandal not only threatens country’s participation in a song contest but also may negatively affect country’s image. The national broadcaster has to pay the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) 20m grivna not to be disqualified.

Members of the European Parliament also plan to appeal to EBU demanding that Belarus should be banned from participating in a song contest. The EU decided to impose sanctions in response to Belarus authorities’ suppression of the oppositional rallies after 2010 presidential elections.

Emmy (Emma Bejanyan) will represent Armenia at Eurovision 2011.
