YEREVAN. –Apostolic Nuncio of the Holy See to Armenia Jose Avelino Bettencourt (residence in Tbilisi) – handed in credentials to Armenian President Armen Sarkissian on Wednesday, July 11.

President congratulated new nuncio on taking the position and wished him success in realization of his important mission.

Mentioning his being the first ambassador of Armenia to the Mother See, Sarkissian said he is perfectly aware of the rich history and agenda of Armenia-Vatican relations.

President noted that historical bilateral ties, huge cultural and spiritual legacy create favorable preconditions and a strong basis for further development of cooperation.
