The airport of Stepanakert will resume its work after 10-year break this May, airport’s manager Zohrab Zurabyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

According to him, construction works are completed and technical upgrading is underway. Zurabyan noted the renovated airport will be capable of receiving 200 passengers.

Despite the final decision is not made yet, the first flight is likely to be Stepanakert-Yerevan. “We have not purchased aircrafts yet. The first flights will be conducted by an operated CRJ Canadian aircraft.  The Stepanakert-Yerevan flight will last about 30-40 minutes,” the airport manager said.

Work of Stepanakert airport was suspended in 1990-1991.
