Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said the Islamic revolution in Iran inspired protestors in Tunis and Egypt.

During the Friday prayer in Tehran mosque Khamenei stressed the developments in Egypt and Tunis are signs of “the awakening created by the victory of the great revolution of the Iranian nation,” Press TV reported.

He called incumbent president Hosni Mubarak “a lackey of Zionist regime”, stressing Israel and U.S. will face defeat in Tunis and Egypt. The spiritual leader also stressed that Mubarak’s crime was that he made Egypt a tool in the hands of U.S.

Speaking of the consequences of protests in the Arab states, Khamenei noted they will not affect the Iranian nation.
