Third session of the sixth convocation National Assembly (NA) differed with its activeness, and quite major law initiatives were debated on at that session.

Gagik Melikyan, a member of the NA faction of the former ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), stated the aforesaid at a press conference on Wednesday.

“Third session of the sixth convocation National Assembly was special also because the parliamentary [system of government] format came into full force [in Armenia], as of April 9,” he added. “[But] I believe that the [ensuing] change of power [in the country] led to [the fact] that tension grew to some extent in the political arena. The stable political majority became a minority—for the first time in the history of the Republic of Armenia.”

But Melikyan added, “The RPA will not at all obstruct the work of the incumbent authorities.”

The MP stressed that the RPA considers itself a constructive opposition, and they will vote in favor all the initiatives  which will stem from the interests of the Armenian state and people.
