The current income tax system in Armenia is bad and it should be changed because, first, it envisions a rather high tax burden, and, also, it encourages shadow economy and does not encourage increase in salaries.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated about the aforementioned during his Facebook livestream on Thursday.

He presented the current income tax law in Armenia and offered two options for amending this law.

In the first scenario, it is proposed to form two respective levels, instead of three.

And in the second option, it is proposed to set a 23-percent flat income tax, profit tax, and dividend tax.

As per Pashinyan, strategically, they prefer the flat tax option.
