Armenia’s Gegharkunik provincial court former chief judge Aghvan Petrosyan, who is charged with demanding and taking a large amount of bribe, was set free on Thursday.

A capital city Yerevan general jurisdiction court granted the motion by the defense, and commuted the decision on remanding Petrosyan in custody.

The former judge was released on the basis of a personal pledge by MPs Suren Manukyan and Hrachya Hakobyan.

Several days ago, Gegharkunik provincial court former judge Vanik Vardanyan, who was detained under the same charges, also was set free.

According to the indictment, Gegharkunik provincial court former chief judge Aghvan Petrosyan and his court team had demanded and taken a large amount of bribe in order to give an unlawful explanation for a court verdict.
