YEREVAN. – President Armen Sarkissian has signed several laws which the National Assembly of Armenia has passed.

The President has signed the laws on making amendments and additions to the law on Armenia’s criminal code, on making an addition to the country’s criminal proceedings code, on making amendments and additions to the administrative offenses’ code, and on making additions to the administrative proceedings code.

With these new laws, it is envisioned to toughen accountability for electoral fraud  in Armenia.

In particular, these laws propose to prohibit any charity activities during election campaign seasons, and to bring to account not solely for vote buying, but also for pledging to buy votes.
