YEREVAN. – Armenian Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan declined to comment on the statement of the head of Special Investigation Service regarding involvement of the army in the March 1 events.
Talking to reporters Tonoyan said he cannot assess the actions of the investigators and prosecutor’s office.
“The armed forces were involved in the March 1 events. It is a fact. They were involved by fulfilling their duties within the state of emergency declared in the country. An investigation will reveal what was done above this task,” the Minister said.
During a media conference on Tuesday, the head of Special Investigation Service Sasun Khachatryan said the soldiers opened fire on the residential buildings.
