YEREVAN. – Armenian second president Robert Kocharyan’s case cannot be investigated by Special Investigation Service any more, one of his advocates Hayk Alumyan told reporters on Friday.

“We would demand that the case can be examined in another proceeding. As to the criminal case filed in connection with wiretapping a phone conversation between the heads of National Security Service (NSS) and Special Investigation Service (SIS), it cannot be examined by NSS and SIS as well,” the lawyer said.

A scandalous recording of the wiretapped conversation between NSS head Artur Vanetsyan and SIS head Sasun Khachatryn appeared on web on September 11. The interlocutors discussed the criminal cases filed against Kocharyan and CSTO Secretary General Yuri Khachaturov. The authenticity of the recording was confirmed both by Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan and the interlocutors themselves.
