YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, who is on a two-day working visit to the Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic/NKR), on Monday was received by President Bako Sahakyan.

First, they expressed confidence that the Karabakh conflict shall be resolved pacifically, within the framework of the co-chairmanship of the OSCE Minsk Group, and on the basis of international law, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Also, the interlocutors stressed that the axis of this matter is the ensuring of the physical safety of Artsakh’s population. In the FM’s words, the NKR has managed to craft a society that is endowed with institutions that are becoming of an established statehood.

Mnatsakanyan noted that the Azerbaijani armed forces’ latest shootings toward Armenia’s border settlements are severely reprehensible, and the firing of shots toward settlements and civilians is a gross violation of the international humanitarian law.

In the minister’s words, these actions of Azerbaijan—as well as its war rhetoric and bellicose statements—run counter to the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs’ and the international community’s calls to taking steps toward the formation of a climate that contributes to a pacific resolution of the Karabakh conflict.

Following his talk with the NKR president, Armenia’s FM held a briefing with Artsakh media.
