YEREVAN. – The Yerevan election campaign resembles a parliamentary campaign, candidate from “Yerevanis” bloc Ararat Zurabyan said.

The problems of Yerevan are of secondary importance for many candidates, and the campaign is rather tense due to political situation.

“I hope that the candidates will ‘return to Yerevan’ and will determine what should be done for the capital city. Lack of debates between mayoral candidates prevents voters from making their choice,” he said.

Asked who exactly of the candidates creates tense situation, he said this is not that important, and the main problem is that tension “prevents Yerevan residents from deciding who of the candidates is worthy to take the seat of a mayor”.

According to Zurabyan, Yerevan has lost the independence as self-governing body and in fact is an appendix of the government and the leadership.
