CSTO Secretary General Yuri Khachaturov issued a statement in connection with the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

“We express grave concern over the recent frequent cases of shooting on the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border, as well as settlements and civilian objects of Armenia along the border, which led to casualties.

We are convinced that bellicose rhetoric leads to a new round of tension and undermines the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group.

Taking into account the information of the Permanent and Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Armenia to the Collective Security Treaty Organization, presented during the meeting of the Permanent Council on September 21 this year, we call to stop shelling and escalation of tension in order to prevent the growing threat to the security of the CSTO member state - Armenia,”  Khachaturov  noted.
