YEREVAN. – On the request of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Representation in Armenia, a representative of the Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman) of Armenia has visited—at Abovyan penitentiary—Umut Ali Özmen, 16, a resident of Turkey’s Kars Province, and who had crossed the Armenian-Turkish border on July 24.

Nune Hovsepyan, the head of Public Relations Unit at the Ombudsman’s office, informed about the above-said on Facebook.

“His rights have been clarified to him,” she also wrote. “The Turkish citizen has not lodged complaints about [his] confinement conditions, or the conduct of the penitentiary administration.”
