Armenian Parliament Speaker Ara Babloyan and his delegation,  composed of Deputy Speaker Michael Melkumyan, MP Armen Ashotyan, MP Armen Rustamyan, MP Gevorg Gorgisyan, MP Shushan Sardaryan and MP Shirak Torosyan, are in Switzerland on an official two-day visit.

Ara Babloyan met with President of the National Council of Switzerland Mr. Dominique de Buman on Tuesday.

Greeting the Armenian PMs, Dominique de Buman expressed gratitude for warm reception during his visit to Armenia this February.

Dominique welcomed the democratic processes in our country, noting that they can be the best impetus for further development and prosperity of the country.

"It is clear to me that Armenia is a country of culture and best traditions," said President of the National Council of Switzerland.

Expressing gratitude for the invitation and warm reception, Ara Babloyan noted that Armenia attaches great importance to the stability and continuity of the relations with Switzerland. There is a high level political dialogue, active interparliamentary ties, cooperation of friendly groups, there is an atmosphere of mutual trust and mutual understanding. He expressed hope that this visit will contribute to the further strengthening of bilateral inter-parliamentary relations.

"The friendship of the people of the two countries has centuries-old history, Switzerland has always been with the Armenian people in different situations ," the Armenian parliament leader said, pointing out Switzerland's mediatory role in the Armenian-Turkish rapprochement.

"During our meetings I have repeatedly mentioned that we have no problems with the people of Turkey or Azerbaijan, we have a problem with those leaders who can not understand or appreciate the values ​​that we share with you. We must strive to do everything to protect the development of democracy and human rights both in Armenia and Artsakh, "the RA NA Speaker emphasized.

The sides also touched upon the necessity of activating bilateral economic ties, highlighting the importance of cooperation in the spheres of agriculture, science, tourism and educational programs.
