UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres mentioned the spring events in Armenia in his address at the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly.

“Armenia’s young people were at the heart of that country’s peaceful political transition earlier this year – showing the potential of youth to use their voice to advance democracy,” he said.

A day earlier he called the Armenian events “a fantastic example”. 

“We recently had a fantastic example of a peaceful transfer of power demonstrated in Armenia,” Guterres said while answering questions on Facebook. “This is a fantastic example, which says that there are reasons to believe that the new generation will be able to make decisions better than my generation.”
